Different Ways to Close a Corrugated
Box
Closing a corrugated box doesn’t seem like something worth
starting a whole discussion about. But there are times when you run out of the
packing tape or this tape might not be fit for your requirements. In such scenarios,
you may think about the alternative options.

In this article, we are going to discuss the ways you can
close a corrugated box.
Packing tape

Of course we will talk about the packing tape first because
it is the standard option. You need to cut two pieces of the tape and apply one
to seal the bottom flaps and one to seal the top flaps. Depending on different
conditions, you can choose from different types of packing tape.
For instance, you can choose water activated tape which can
be applied to the surface when it is wet. It dries up and forms the bond. It is
so strong that the seal made by this tape can be broken only by tearing the
tape.
Another type of tape is the cold temperature tape which has
the adhesive to remain glued even in the coldest of temperatures. So, you are
going to find this tape pretty useful when your packages have to go through
wintery conditions.
Stretch wrap

Stretch wrapping is an unconventional way of closing the
box. But the matter of fact is that it is one of the great options if you have
run out of packing tape. You can wrap multiple layers of this tape around the
box to make proper seal.
The factor that makes stretch wrap a great option is that it
gets its strength from the application of tension while wrapping. All you have
to do is to pull the film while applying it on the box. That will help the
items in the box to be held tightly.
Custom labels

If you want to enhance the looks of the package, you can
consider using custom labels which basically serve as the finishing look to the
order by the customer. The label needs to be placed across the closed flaps.
This will form the seal. This seal will help the customers understand that the
box is only meant to be opened by them.
Strapping

When you need to secure the boxes containing bigger and
heavier items, you are going to have to go beyond the packing tape. You will
have to take the safety of entire box into consideration. One of the options
that you can consider in this regard is strapping. This way of sealing
basically reinforces the walls and secures the closures ideally.
